Transitions

Dear High school senior, Hey, I'm going to give it to you straight my friend college is a completely different environment and a completely different way of learning. Like you may think that your high school class and what you learned in there will be the same as what you will be learning in college. This is false and I can tell you that from personal experience, this Communications class I'm taking is nothing like the public speaking class I took in high school I thought they were going to piggyback off each other but they don't at all two completely different types of classes. Oh, this a big one right here don't expect your college professors to be great teachers, don't get me wrong some are really great teachers like I wish they could teach all my classes but the principles of "academic freedom" encourage variation in college teaching. This means professors can teach however they want as long as they get the information to you. This could be just readi...

Crossing borders

The border I crossed was a literal border, it wasn't imaginary or an invisible one this was a real border a border into another country. It's hard to believe how different a place can be but once you get there you see how different it is from the place you have lived for almost your whole life. The Philippines, my place of birth, my home, I left when I was about 2 so I don't remember much from there. But I know it will always be home and will always be a part of me. The summer before my senior year was the first time I was going to be home since I had left. The only bad part. about going home was the flight time. I think it was like 18 hours to South Korea and then another 5 hours to the Philippines but believe me, it was worth it. The Philippines a third world country is so different from the United States it's difficult to even explain really. But you'd never know the people in the city and on the islands lived in a third world country, anybody and everybody you t...

Elevator

In the video the different people come in playing their music, white people, mixed, and then an African American man comes in and they all immediately turn off their music. I think the author's purpose was to maybe show us how people really were stereotyping an African American man. He came in with a speaker and but he put his headphones in, I felt that everyone in that elevator thought he was going to blast music. I think the audience is pointed at the people who still look at African Americans and continue to still stereotype them. Because the point the director is trying to make is that look they assumed this and he did the complete opposite. I think the first way is to drop the stereotypes you see how they became comfortable after he put his headphones in and showed manners, it should always be like that. The next way is to come together as a community if everybd=ody doesn't come together like shown in the video you get that everybody playing their own music. Lastly, monkey...

Pandemic music

I am from Georgia, with that being said you know I have to add my country songs to the mix. nd it's The first song I would add to my playlist would be Life is a Highway by Rascal Flatts, this is my jam because as a kid and growing up I watched the movie cars at least 200 times and believe me when this song came on in the movie I sang my heart out every time. Even now I still sing my heart out to it because it reminds me of being a kid still. Another country song I would add would be Rumor by Lee Brice because I have had this song on my "country bangers" playlist for a while now but this year I made some good friends and we would go on drives and 9 times out of ten this song would play and we would all sing our hearts out. Sadly I won't see these friends for a while because of covid but it reminds me of the good times. This may be the last country song I add but it is Cruise by Florida Georgia Line. I would add this one because my senior year my best friend and I woul...

Pass or failing as person

I disagree, I just think there are good people and bad people in the world nobody really ever fails at being a person. A person is someone who has a soul, who can feel pain, love, or empathy. In order for a person to truly be dishonored is if they were to do something unjust such as taking another person's life away for no reason. I'm not counting the military because it's there job to do so in order to protect our country. People make a person not feel like a person when they strip them of their pride and disown them as a human being. I feel as if people do this to feel as if they are higher up on the social chain, they think they have a right over people because they make more money than a person. Yes, a person has every right to say something if somebody is making somebody feel like they are failing. No matter what, no matter who they are nobody should ever be downed by another person when they are probably already going through it. Make a person feel successful.

Conflicts

Neil Gaiman develops tension in the book by the narrator telling us that he always listens to his dad and respects his dad. Throughout the story, his dad is the alpha dog, he will do what his dad says. Then when the babysitter, Ursala arrived she really set a border between the adult world and the world of the children. Ursala set the border when she felt that she was older so she could boss around whoever she wanted because she was the adult in the house. Towards the end of the book, the problem is not really resolved but more or less not dealt with. Such as his parents forgetting everything after the stiched the bad memory out of them. The border of the adults and children still existed towards the end even after all that happened.

The goddesses

The first goddess is the Maiden, which is represented by a new waxing moon. They are characterized as a person who shows youth, creation, pleasure, and new beginnings. The maiden is also a person who wants you to explore your spirituality, creativity, and desires. Lettie is a perfect example of this type of goddess because of the way she shows all of these characteristics throughout the book. The way she shows her youth throughout portrays this goddess. The second goddess is the mother, which is represented by the full moon. They are characterized as a person who shows love, fertility, and nourishment. Ginnie shows all of these qualities caring for her daughter throughout the book. Especially when Lettie was taken by the ocean is when she showed how much and how true her love for Lettie was. The last goddess is the Crone, which is represented by the fading waning moon. They are characterized by wisdom, endings, and fulfillment. Old Mrs. Hemstock shows this well the way Lettie and Gin...
